In 1887 some enthusiasts raced their penny-farthings for three-miles around the grass of the MCG – little did they know what they would begin. In 2008, the Austral celebrates its 110th year – making it the oldest continuous bicycle race in the world! 2008 also marks the beginning of a new tradition – the Inaugural Junior Austral hits the boards at DISC with some of Australia’s finest young cyclists competing to be the first name etched on what is destined to become a prestigious junior trophy. If you missed the night of racing, results and images of the evening are available. You can also watch a video of the Inaugural Austral Wheelrace final. We’d especially like to thank our sponsors for making this event happen: |
