About Cotter Pin

Cotter Pin Pty Ltd was established in April 2007 to tender to become the promoters of track cycling in Victoria (as offered by Cycling Sport Victoria – the states governing body). Cotter Pin realised there was an enormous opportunity for the sport to take advantage of the huge growth in the participation in cycling – especially amongst a more professional demographic.

In late 2007 Cotter Pin promoted Revolution 1 & 2 at Vodafone Arena, with the second event being a sell out and featuring such cycling talent as Stuart O’Grady, Graeme Brown, Ryan Bayley, Shane Kelly and Anna Meares. Cotter Pin is planning more such events both in Melbourne and on a national basis.

How the REVOLUTION began

Revolution was created in 2003 by Face Partnership and the Manchester Velodrome to provide a new style of track cycling event in the UK, a style that would increase spectator appeal and change the way people thought about the sport.

With the creation of an action packed alternative race program, featuring international road and track stars, presented with a slick, modern style, the Cycling Revolution was born. The racing is fast and the atmosphere is electrifying with music and lighting effects creating a superb night of entertainment for cycling and non-cycling fans alike.

Starting in Melbourne, Australia in November 2007, the Revolution will capitalize on a plethora of world and Olympic cycling champions, a world-class venue and a sport savvy audience.
• Now in it’s fifth season
• Every event has been a sell out
• Every event has included world and Olympic Champions
• Year-on-year growth in sponsor support
• Events aimed and marketed at a non-core cycling audience

Cotter Pin Personnel

Harry Hart
Harry is a founding partner and director of H2 (www.hsquared.tv). He has a strong background in sports production having helped launch OptusVision’s four sports channels. He has worked on two Olympics and been involved in producing thousands of hours of live and recorded sports programming. While only relatively new to the sport of cycling, he has quickly seen the opportunities the sport offers and, in particular, that the “time is now” to grow the sport and help it reach it’s potential across event, broadcast and participation. It is particularly the relationships Harry has with domestic broadcasters that can help give cycling more of a presence on TV as well as the experience in selling to corporates that Harry brings to the team.

Clint McDonell
Clint spent 10-years in the Australian music industry successfully promoting concerts & events and managing well known artists. Clint still maintains strong ties to the entertainment industry. He then spent 15-years developing a very successful chain of independent health clubs that he recently sold to the Fitness First and Genesis brands. He is a popular and competitive A-Grade cyclist who races every week on the local circuit in vets, club and track racing. In 2007 he made the final in 3 major track races (Melbourne Cup on Wheels, Sid Patterson & The Austral) with the best result being 2nd place in The 109th Austral. His background makes him extremely well placed to look at the promotion of these events from a business, management, entertainment and competitor’s point of view.

David McKenzie
“Macca’, the 1998 Australian National Champion, 2000 Australian Cyclist of the Year and Giro Stage winner, retired from professional cycling a little over a year ago. In that time he has grown his coaching, media and training business with an eye on opportunities within the sport he loves. Raised on the track and being an AIS rider alongside Robbie McEwen, David’s relationships within the sport (with riders, coaches and administrators) is one of the key attributes that he brings to team. That is not to underestimate his entrepreneurial thinking and innovative ideas on how to help take these events to the next level.

Susan Stewart
Susan has had a long involvement in cycling administration, which began as Event Co-ordinator for the Herald Sun Tour. She also held roles as Executive Officer for CycleSport Victoria and several other event management positions before leaving for overseas where she ran a professional cycling team in Europe for two years. In 2006 Susan began to build her business as an event consultant which included a role as Operations Manager for the Jayco Herald Sun Tour among other events.
